Working together to prevent suicide is again the theme for this year's event. Join us again this year to raise awareness of the risks of suicide and to listen to inspirational speakers and also inspirational members of our own community.
This year's event will involve all local talent. Because of COVID and because we were worried about seeking speakers/ entertainers outside of Dunedin that may face travel restrictions we decided to keep it very local this year.
Due to L2 restrictions we can only allow 100 people at this event now. Further instructions to follow once we know more about the different levels.
We know that a person dies every 40 seconds by suicide somewhere in the world and up to 25 times as many again make a suicide attempt. There are also many more people who have been bereaved by suicide or have been close to someone who has made an attempt. This World Suicide Prevention Day event is about our global and local community: to encourage us to engage with each other and to join together to spread awareness of suicide prevention. Suicide prevention is up to all of us. This will be our 7th annual event organised by Life Matters Suicide Prevention Trust.
Refreshments served afterwards in the Burns Hall which is located next to the First Church.
Koha/gold coin entry and free to people who cannot afford it.
If you want to join us on our sub committee to work together to make this event as beautiful as the previous six events then please email us on [email protected] to come and have a chat with us at the Hope Centre.
